Shipwright's Lodge, Waldringfield, Suffolk

Welcome

Welcome to our wedding website! We can't wait to celebrate with you all by the banks of the River Deben.

Here, you'll find all the details about our big day, from the venue to the schedule, and a little bit about what to expect. We hope this site helps put you in the know and gets you as excited about the day as we are!

Please RSVP by the end of April and we'll see you there!

What To Expect

Anyone who knows us, knows that we often like to do things a little bit differently. We're not going to give too much away, but we hope you spot all the fun little details we've woven into the day.

Here's a few of the highlights you may like/need to know ahead of time:

Dress Code
Garden Cocktail Attire. We want everyone to feel comfortable and to wear whatever they would like, however we understand that a little guidance can be helpful here. Keep in mind that the ground is uneven in places and the beach is both pebbly and sandy, so unfortunately JJ won’t be able to wear his stilettos. We will have a marquee. However, the majority of the day will be outside so please dress accordingly.
Booze
There won't be a bar on site but we have stocked up on plenty of beer, wine, bubbly and soft drinks to get us going. If you have a particular tipple you can't live without, feel free to bring it along. We'll have plenty of fridge space to keep it cool and labels to keep it safe.
Food
We won’t be having a sit down meal as part of our day, we want to be able to use all of our time to be able to say hi and dance with everybody. There will be nibbles and snacks throughout, a pizza truck mid afternoon, a braai with plenty of food to pop on if you’re still hungry, as well as a dessert table… (If anybody wants to contribute to this please let us know!)
Photos
We want to see this day from your point of view and so we encourage everyone to take as many photos as possible. There will be some disposable cameras dotted about too.
Adults Only
To allow all guests to relax and enjoy themselves, we have chosen to make our special day adults only. We thank you for your understanding.

Schedule

Wedding Ceremony at Woodbridge Registry Office
We will start the day with the ceremony at the Woodbridge registry office. Due to the tiny size of the venue, we can only accomodate our immediate family in the room. However, if you wish to meet us there and wave us off down the river please feel free.
Boat procession to Waldringfield
We will leave Woodbridge town quay and head along the river to Waldringfield so we can get the party started. If you have a vessel you’re more than welcome to join our mini flotilla!
Wedding party assembles on Waldringfield Beach
This is the point of the day where we’d like everyone to welcome us as a newly married couple. We would also love to take the opportunity to get lots of lovely photos with everyone.
Shipwright's Lodge
From the beach we will head up to Shipwright’s Lodge where there will be plenty of drinks, nibbles, and games to get us going.
Speeches
After soothing some nerves a few of us would like to say a few/several words and thank yous. Don’t worry we’ll keep it much shorter than Uncle Simon’s infamous best man speech.
Food
Time for some great food provided by Pizza Shack. There will also be a BBQ later on for those who have worked up an appetite cutting shapes.
Music and dancing
It’s time for the dance floor! Enough said.

The Venue

Shipwright's Lodge, Cliff Lane, Waldringfield, Suffolk, IP12 4QL

Waldringfield’s hottest new wedding venue isn’t on google maps just yet, so we’ve dropped a pin on google maps above. The keen eyed amongst you, will notice that it looks a lot like a boat storage field…and you would be correct, it is! Rest assured, by the big day we will have cleared plenty of space to party accordingly!

For those that haven’t been to Waldringfield before, the venue is right next door to the Maybush Pub. Unfortunately, there isn’t any parking on site so options include either the Maybush Car Park (Pay & Display - £10 all day), or for anyone staying in the village the venue is typically within walking distance. For those further afield we have included some numbers for local taxi companies below

Our VPC (Vibe Preservation Committee) will be among us to not let anyone stray too far. Once we meet on the beach we will all head up together.

Wedding Registry

We are so grateful to have you in our lives and for your love and support. We know what it takes for you to be there and it's all we could ask for and more that you can celebrate with us.

We have therefore decided to not have a wedding registry, we are very fortunate to have everything we need. We would much rather you spend it on yourselves or put it towards your own adventures.
